Yeah, yeah, this blog is woefully underused. So I guess the easiest way for me to kickstart it is to write about what I know, and I know baseball. :) Go ahead & accuse me of bandwagon-jumping, but I am developing sort of a soft spot for the San Francisco Giants. I don’t get much exposure to a lot of the AL teams (except for the Yankees and Red Sox which ESPN & MLB Network continuously cram down my throat at every chance… I get it, Nick Swisher is quirky, Big Papi hits home runs and Derek Jeter is a swell guy)… and I can’t very well cheer for other NL Central teams- that’s just wrong. :) I’ve always been a little intrigued by Tim Lincecum and I must admit that Dan Plesac’s impression of the Kung Fu Panda noise always gets me laughing.
But, if I’m being honest… it’s ALL about The Beard! How could it not be? Brian Wilson is a one-man show, filled with “magic.” Big talent, a weird post-game celebration, magical orange cleats… he’s a tatted-up, sharpie-bearded, primal-screaming, gimp mask-toting, crazy man. And I dig it baby. So many superlatives for one guy.

There is a bounty of commercials, clips and videos of The Weez (and the glorious beard) out there, but the one that I can’t stop watching (and laughing at) is a cameo he made with fellow teammate Cody Ross (sans eye black) on a Keenan Cahill (BeenerKeeKee19952 on YouTube) video, lip-syncing and dancing to “Dynamite” by Taio Cruz. It makes me smile every time… can you imagine how much fun that must have been?!? I love Brian’s signature fist pump move (hey- he’s cool in SO many ways other than dancing…) and Cody Ross looks like maybe he has some lip-syncing experience- he was super into it. ;)
The video was done to be an advertisement for a fundraiser Wilson & Ross are having on Cahill’s behalf (he has MPS-6 syndrome)
Enjoy!

People, people, people… give me a break. Seriously.
“Change your profile picture to a cartoon character from your childhood. Until Monday, Dec. 6th, there should be no human faces on Facebook, but rather a flood of childhood memories. THIS IS FOR A CAMPAIGN AGAINST VIOLENCE ON CHILDREN!”
Suuuure it is. Call me skeptical, negative, heartless… but call me annoyed and even angry. Angry that people buy into this nonsense. This is just the newest of these Facebook-generated “awareness campaigns.” Gimmicks like this are not raising awareness in the sense that something is ACTUALLY being done as a result. Have any of you looked at the responses you’re getting when you post your profile photo of Lion-O or Spongebob or the Animaniacs? No one is like, “Oh dude… thank you so much for helping me to be more aware of violence against children. It’s such an admirable cause! I’m headed out right now to join up for Big Brothers & Big Sisters” or “I just donated to my local Salvation Army!” Nope. Everyone wants to talk about how awesome cartoons are/were or how they TOTALLY forgot how much they loved Scrooge McDuck and his vault of money, etc. “Shit! I used to LOVE watching Gummybears! Memories!”
You want to do something that actually helps? Volunteer somewhere! It’s free, it’s meaningful and you are ACTUALLY raising awareness by sharing your experiences on Facebook.
Hmm. This post wasn’t that funny. Sorry. Oh, and by the way… my bra is yellow, I like it on the table and I’m currently searching for my next celebrity doppelganger photo. ;)
Hey look everyone! Chris Patrick was in Wisconsin! :) Quick Jimmy John’s lunch before his interview* with Air Wisconsin. Good luck!!
